There are three broad areas on which we evaluate the potential of a candidate
1. Academic Record:
We believe a good academic record is an indicator of the candidate’s ability to take up the rigour of the programme. We evaluate candidates on two things
A) The Academic Foundation and B) GMAT Score
A) Academic foundation would mean a candidate’s schooling and under graduation. We are looking for strong 12th standard scores and graduation grades.
B) GMAT Score: While there is no minimum score required for admission. The scores in the current class range from 600 to 780. We consider only the highest valid GMAT score. We look at the overall score and do not have any sectional cut-offs.
Having said that the standardized tests are just one of several admission criteria. A high score does not guarantee admission and a below average score does not eliminate a candidate. If you have poor 12th and graduation grades you can compensate for that with a good GMAT score and vice-versa.
2. Leadership Attributes:
A leader is someone who demonstrates what’s possible. — Mark Yarell
While assessing your application, we look for people who have demonstrated leadership qualities in their professional or personal lives. Leadership qualities don’t necessarily mean leading teams – they could also mean the initiatives you had taken, your achievements, impact-orientation and career progression.
Your essays and recommendation letter play a critical role in giving us clarity on your strengths in this section of evaluation.
3.Personal Attributes:
In this section we assess your personal attributes on various parameters–like your ability to handle pressure, innovate, think analytically and creatively, your personal and moral integrity, communication skills, learnability etc Your extracurricular activities and interests beyond your work life gives us insights on your personal qualities. At ISB, we would look for versatile and well-rounded individuals who can contribute to the society in positive and meaningful ways. The personal attributes are assessed through your essays and interview process.
You have to fare well in all the three areas to get an offer from ISB.

Hi,
I just wanted to know whether the IR scores in GMAT are part of the selection criteria for candidates who want to join the PGP class next year.
Thanks.
Dear Sharad,
As Integrated Reasoning (IR) is a relatively recent section and not all our applicants have it, hence we are not considering IR score in the current year’s application process.
Thank You.

Just wanted to know whether ISB team considers an application that has been submitted by applicant (complete from aspirants end) on the last date just hours before deadline though evaluators response may be reaching a day later to ISB through online mode?
Would be glad if you could clarify because I had submitted the application in time but evaluation is pending and would be completed one day later than the deadline.
Thanks,

Hi Sir,
I have been working in United States for the past year. Would I be considered an international candidate or a domestic one? Also, I gave my GMAT in Oct 2014. Does that mean I can apply with these scores till 2019?
Thanks,
Neha
Dear Neha,
You are considered as a domestic applicant.
GMAT scores are valid for five years, hence you may apply even in 2018 as the scores are valid till the commencement of the programme.
Our academic year commences in April.
Thank You.

Hi,
i just wanted to know what kind of weightage is given to work ex.
i have been working in my family business after graduation since last 2 years.
Apart from that i have done internship during my Bachalor’s.
I will be applying 2016-17 PGP.
Please Guide
Dear Varsha,
Quality of work experience is one of the parameter in the selection process. Equal weightage is given to all the selection parameters.
Internships will add value to your profile.
Admission to the ISB is based on a holistic evaluation, that comprises of :
1. Leadership potential
2. Consistent performance in academics.
3. Personal attributes
Your application essays, past academic record, GMAT score, employment details and your performance in the interview, if invited, will have to reflect the above parameters, to help us assess your candidature.
GMAT is just one parameter of the application, which is usually evaluated holistically. The range of GMAT scores accepted in the past has been between 600 and 780.
Thank You.

I will be completing my undergrad in June 2016 and already appeared for Gmat in Sep 2015 and scored 720. Can I apply for Early entry option as my result will be out by June 2016 or I have to apply thru YLP.
Dear Simmi,
You will have to apply through the YLP as it is for candidates in the pre final/ final year of graduation.
Thank You.
Team Admissions
Hello sir,
Since I will be graduating in June ’16, I’m eligible for YLP.
In My 12th standard, I have done just okay (85.2) and uptill now in my college also my grade has been just okay, 8.02.
Now, since isb doesn’t consider your gmat score before clearing the first round, I can’t compensate my grades with my gmat score for the first round. So, is there any chance of me clearing the first round of YLP?
Also, being in the fourth year, I have already been placed. Should I mention it in my application and will it be beneficial if I put it in the application?
Thank you, sir
Dear Abhinaav,
Please write to ylp@isb.edu along with your resume.
Thank You.

Hi Team,
I’m an aspiring Chartered Accountant, having finished 3 years of Internship (2012-2015) at Deloitte. I graduated in 2013 with 82% (B.com) from R.A. Podar College of commerce and economics, Mumbai.
I’ve also bagged quite a few extra-curricular awards during my college years.
I’m planning to appear for GMAT in April now. Should this profile, coupled with a decent GMAT score be good enough for EEO?
Dear Chinmay,
Please note that articleship is not considered as work experience.

I would like to take evaluations from 2 evaluators. Is that option still available or I can take it from only one evaluator?
Dear Balaji,
We need only one evaluation for PGP 2016-17.
