Perspectives from ISB

With only a few days to go for the Round 1 application deadline to the PGP 2014-15, here are some things to keep in mind before submitting your application:

  1. Ensure that all fields in the application form have been correctly filled. Double check all facts like names, dates, marks, contact details, etc. to ensure that there are no errors.
  2. Ensure that you have sent us your official GMAT scores, and any other scores like TOEFL or IELTS, if needed.
  3. Ensure that your essays are complete, they answer the questions asked and are within the prescribed word limits. You may find my previous blog post on this subject, Application Essays Explained, useful.
  4. Ensure that your evaluations have been submitted. Some of you may need to remind your evaluators about the approaching deadline. Facilitate your evaluators as needed, making it easy for them to help you. More information on evaluations is available here.
  5. If you are applying for a need-based scholarship, then ensure that you fill up the corresponding sections too. All applicants to ISB PGP are considered by default for ISB’s merit-based scholarship but only those who specifically submit the scholarship applications will be considered for ISB’s need-based scholarship. Since this section is not mandatory, the Application Inspector won’t flag this as an error if you skip it, so please ensure that you track it correctly on your own.
  6. Provide any other required documents, photographs, etc.
  7. Do a thorough check of all the content you have written and uploaded. Communication skills and attention to detail are very important to us, so ensure that your essays and application have no errors in spelling, grammar, facts, etc. Have a friend or colleague review your application once if possible.
  8. If everything is in order, go ahead and submit your application along with the application fee. I would strongly suggest that you submit your application a day or two before the Round 1 deadline and avoid the heavy traffic that our servers receive on the last day. Round 1 of admissions closes automatically at 11:59 PM on September 15, 2013, and only those applications that have been successfully submitted by then will be considered for evaluation in Round 1.

Many of the above steps are explained in more detail in my previous blog post on application requirements. If you still have any queries, please go through our Frequently Asked Questions section. You can also contact the PGP Admissions Team and they will be able to help you with any issues you may be facing.

Once you have successfully submitted your application, you can collect and collate the originals of all your supporting documents such as marks sheets, degree certificates, last drawn salary slip, relieving letter, etc (list of documents is available in the application portal.) You will need to submit copies of these should you get an interview call/offer of admission. You may also want to start preparing for admission interviews soon and give yourself a head start.

This is the last blog post for this round. I hope you have found it useful in preparing a strong application. My team and I look forward to receiving your application and meeting you at the interview!

All the best!
