To commemorate the Civil Services Day, the office of External Relations at ISB organised a series of luncheon meetings, inviting officers from the civil services to interact with the ISB community. The day pays homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first home minister of independent India, and his address to Administrative Services Officers on probation in 1947 at Metcalf House, Delhi, where he famously referred to civil servants as the “steel frame of India”.
Thanks to the initiative of team External Relations in inviting civil service officers to ISB, my recent encounter with Prabhjot Singh, an IAS officer from the 2010 batch of the Haryana cadre, proved to be incredibly insightful and inspiring.
He shared his perspectives and experiences on streamlining bureaucratic processes, enhancing public service delivery mechanisms, and ensuring how government resources can be effectively utilised to address the needs of the people. His perseverance, simplicity, depth of knowledge, and commitment to public service left a lasting impression on me and other attendees.
It was inspiring to discover that amidst his demanding schedule, he runs a YouTube channel – ‘Prabhjot Singh IAS PCM Concepts Motivational Talks’, where he simplifies basic concepts of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics for class 11th and 12th students.
He also conducts motivational interviews and pep talks with people from all walks of life who have achieved success, aiming to guide and motivate students. His journey is a testimony to the fact that we can learn from our struggles and achieve our goals despite challenges.
His desire to contribute to society is truly inspiring.
