Originally celebrated in memory opride has evolved to become a movement that recognizes and celebrates sexual diversity. It aims to increase awareness amongst the members of society and helps the misinformed and straight-minded broaden their horizons.f the Stonewall riots<\/a> in New York in 19(69), every year in June, homosapiens all over the world celebrate Pride Month. Overtime, Pride has evolved to become a movement that recognizes and celebrates sexual diversity. It aims to increase awareness amongst the members of society and helps the misinformed and straight-minded broaden their horizons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Much like a prism, it helps people realise that though they may have a pre-conceived notion about the colour of light (i.e., it\u2019s white). Light, much like love, is a combination of every colour there is. At ISB this year, the Co-19 held its second annual pride parade on June 30th, 2018 across both the campuses at Hyderabad and Mohali.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The run-up to the parade saw the campus decked in rainbow colours, discussions on Section 377, and awareness sessions on the ISB radio amongst other activities. The actual pride parade saw an attendance of 400+ students across both campuses . The parade ended in a carnival that boasted a street play, a flash mob, rainbow cupcakes, games and even cotton candy. The student community came together to show their support towards creating an inclusive environment in a sea of diversity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Whilst the times they are a-changing, one could argue that it is only the Louis Armstrong generation that was insensitive to such differences. The Tentacions of today are wired differently and should probably focus on more pertinent issues, like how little doggos and old puppers have taken over the internet. However, that would be a deterministic statement to make about a stochastic reality. Not all genocide is tangible; some of it is purely psychological.<\/p>\n

At the risk of sounding nai\u0308ve, I\u2019d like to end by saying that there will soon be a day where we will no longer need this Prism of Pride. It may take time to erase centuries of socially inherited prejudice, but the function of time is empirically exponential. Till then, I\u2019m sure we\u2019ll find ways to forge genuine bonds of solidarity with all people irrespective of who they choose to love.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
