As she treaded the path of medicine, she\u00a0became\u00a0passionate\u00a0about radiodiagnosis\u00a0and started heading that department at her family-owned business, Aakash Healthcare.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had been practising\u00a0medicine\u00a0for over eight years\u00a0at which point\u00a0decided to\u00a0take the plunge into management education,\u201d she says. The motivation and inspiration came from witnessing a transformation in her husband who had just finished the AMPH at ISB.\u00a0Meinal\u00a0explains, \u201cWhen he came back from\u00a0ISB, I felt a generation gap between his understanding of business\u00a0and mine. He\u00a0was able to\u00a0see a problem with a 360-degree approach after\u00a0the programme. The kind of perspective that opened for him motivated me to\u00a0take up\u00a0the one year of rigorous training at ISB.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meinal\u00a0expected to gain a logical understanding of the concepts of management and business.\u00a0However,\u00a0she ended up transforming.\u00a0&#8220;I\u00a0completely\u00a0changed as a leader, and more importantly, as a person. The\u00a0positive\u00a0change\u00a0I\u00a0have been able to\u00a0bring to my\u00a0business after\u00a0evaluating the financial and strategic\u00a0impact of my\u00a0decision\u00a0making has\u00a0been\u00a0immense. I can now segment my problems into smaller\u00a0parts\u00a0and tackle them one at a time.\u00a0This understanding\u00a0has come from the\u00a0programme,\u00a0and I am thankful for it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On a lighter\u00a0note,\u00a0she adds,\u00a0\u201cI\u00a0keep\u00a0applying the management\u00a0fundas in my day-to-day life. So much so that my relationship with my kids, parents, and in-laws have also changed for the better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting\u00a0on how the program has impacted her\u00a0leadership style,\u00a0Meinal\u00a0says, \u201cWhen I started, I thought\u00a0I will add a lot of value into my family business and department\u00a0at Aakash Healthcare. But after\u00a0AMPH, I also became more emotionally intelligent.\u00a0I went from being\u00a0authoritative to\u00a0being\u00a0inclusive, from fault-finding to being\u00a0solution-oriented. I started\u00a0listening to my team\u2019s comments and leveraging their\u00a0expertise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aakash Healthcare performed exceptionally well in terms of marketing and crisis management\u00a0during Covid-19.\u00a0Meinal\u00a0explains how they leveraged the pandemic for\u00a0their\u00a0brand-building.\u00a0\u201cWhen the pandemic struck, we sat down and translated the learnings from\u00a0the\u00a0crisis management\u00a0course at AMPH point by point. The framework of keeping employees on your side, communicating\u00a0about\u00a0your vulnerabilities,\u00a0being\u00a0empathetic, handling\u00a0supply chains\u00a0and whatnot were all implemented for Covid-19\u00a0management\u00a0at our hospital.\u00a0We even followed the learnings\u00a0for\u00a0media communications like a bible.
