On\u00a0<\/b>his\u00a0<\/b>current work and profession<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I\u00a0overlook\u00a0primary healthcare and population health delivery into rural markets, government businesses,\u00a0and\u00a0delivery\u00a0of\u00a0remote healthcare,\u00a0thereby\u00a0driving a 360-degree adoption of technology\u00a0and\u00a0ensuring\u00a0a continuum of healthcare for the patients\u00a0at Apollo. This comprises\u00a0formulating and implementing business strategies for ICT-driven healthcare,\u00a0increasing\u00a0the adoption of technology in healthcare service delivery, handling the medical monitoring services and the mHealth initiatives for the Apollo Group.<\/p>\n On the turning point in your career<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I come from a family of Kashmiri Pandits\u00a0who\u00a0were forced to flee\u00a0the valley\u00a0during\u00a0the seventh exodus\u00a0in\u00a0the 90s.\u00a0The\u00a0hardships\u00a0that followed thereafter\u00a0steeled my resolve to carve a career outside the trodden path. After completing my schooling, I decided to pursue a career in hospitality, later moving\u00a0to retail and\u00a0finally\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0healthcare sector.\u00a0But the\u00a0turning point\u00a0came in 2010\u00a0when I joined\u00a0Apollo Hospitals as\u00a0its\u00a0CEO,\u00a0Telehealth.\u00a0Ever since it has been a roller-coaster ride.<\/p>\n On taking up management education<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n My decision to pursue an MBA was born out of the tacit understanding that a management degree is a prerequisite if you want to occupy leadership roles where you get to make a difference.\u00a0During the\u00a0AMPH\u00a0course\u00a0at ISB,\u00a0I learnt a lot about the healthcare industry, the shortfalls and pratfalls, and the gaps that need to be bridged to ensure equitable access to quality healthcare. I also learnt a fair amount about teamwork and managing people and time.<\/p>\n On opportunities post AMPH<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The programme\u00a0opened a world of opportunities for me.\u00a0Post\u00a0ISB, I decided to foray into the healthcare industry and create a sustainable business model that delivers quality healthcare to\u00a0patients across geographic and socio-economic barriers.\u00a0When I joined Apollo Hospitals to set up\u00a0their\u00a0telehealth\u00a0services, it was clear that some of the challenges that bedevil the healthcare system in India need innovative approaches and alternate delivery channels using\u00a0healthcare IT innovations.
