Moller\u2013Maersk Group, also known as Maersk, is a Danish business conglomerate, with interests primarily in the transportation and energy sectors. The company was founded by Peter M\u00e6rsk-Moller and his son Arnold Peter Moller in 1904. The fourth-generation family business is today the largest shipping company in the world with offices in 135 countries and employing more than 89,000 people.<\/p>\n<p>Robert Maersk Uggla, is the third-generation heir to this Danish shipping giant. In a recent move he has been appointed as the chief executive of the family\u2019s holding company. From September 2016, Uggla will step down from the top job at Maersk-owned tugboat operator Svitzer to become CEO of AP Moller Holding, which holds 41.5% of shares and 51% of voting rights in the Copenhagen-based shipping company. Henriette H Thygesen, who has been with the Maersk Group for 22 years, will become the new CEO of Svitzer.<\/p>\n<p>This move is likely to distance the family from the daily operations of the company. This management reshuffle at Maersk\u2019s, is seen by experts as another example of family leaders relinquishing day-to-day operations in order to focus on strategy.
